Current Student Scholarships

Our current BFA and Atelier Certificate Program students are welcome to enter the competition to receive a $500 Contemporary Representational Art Scholarship for the Fall 2012 quarter.  Contemporary Representational Art includes figures, still life, and landscapes.

Eligibility: Students currently enrolled in our BFA and Atelier Certificate Programs, are invited to apply for this scholarship.

Submission Requirements: Submit five images, and a 500-word essay to scholarships@laafa.org or in person to the Administration Office.  Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Artwork: Each applicant must submit five different two-dimensional artwork pieces.  Images of work should be in JPEG format.  Images should be as close to 800 X 1200 dpi as possible, and emailed as an attached file, or submitted on a CD.  The JPEG must also be large enough to show your entire piece (do not crop your artwork).  Each JPEG must be labeled with a number, and the artist’s name.  Include a list of portfolio works with your submission.  Include numbers corresponding to the images submitted, as well as title of work, description of piece, concept and/or subject matter, size, medium, and completion date.  Submissions are limited to original artwork only, completed within one year of the entry date.  No Master copies allowed.  We will accept class work as long as an instructor has not modified it.

Essay: You must include a 500 word essay explaining your ultimate career goals as an artist and how you would use your LAAFA education to further your goals.

Jurors: Selected LAAFA faculty.

Awards: $500 scholarship for use toward LAAFA’s BFA and Atelier Certificate Program tuition for Fall 2012 quarter.

Deadline: August 15, 2012.  Submissions will not be accepted after these deadlines.

Recipients: Scholarship recipients will be announced by September 1, 2012.

Terms and Conditions: Applicants must be students in good standing with a 3.8 GPA or higher.  LAAFA is not obligated to disperse all available scholarships if the application and artwork submitted do not meet the juror’s criteria.  Scholarships are awarded in the form of tuition credit toward the BFA and Atelier Certificate Programs, after the non-refundable deposit and registration fee have been paid.  Students may only apply once per year. By submitting this form, you are agreeing to allow LAAFA to use your submitted images for any promotional purposes as LAAFA sees fit.  Additional restrictions and requirements may apply.
