• SMALL STUDENT-TO-TEACHER CLASS RATIO: Classes at LAAFA are much more intimate in size than any other art institution. The smaller class sizes allow our students to get individual attention from the instructors thus helping them overcome their unique challenges in a more focused and intensive way. The students at LAAFA are not just a number.
• PROGRAM COST: The cost of our programs are the most affordable in comparison to other institutions offering similar curriculum. The fact is, you can get a top notch education at LAAFA and graduate without a burden of large student loans to have to pay back.
• MENTOR PROGRAM: 3rd year students have the opportunity to select mentors of their choice regardless of the artists’ geographical location or whether their desired mentors teach at LAAFA or not. LAAFA’s reputation and excellence has allowed us to pursue and secure the top mentor choices of our students.
• INSTRUCTORS: You will receive instruction from dedicated faculty of the highest caliber that are also working professionals in the fields that they teach, and are aware of the demands upon artists today. Each and every instructor is articulate and able to provide personal instruction and advisement to our small student body.
• CADAVER DISSECTION: LAAFA has a rare and special arrangement with a local university to provide a lab for our Anatomy/Ecorché students where they will draw and study from a dissected cadaver and thus gain a deeper level of understanding of the human figure. LAAFA is one of the very few programs providing our students this indispensable educational experience.
• ARTISTS STUDIO VISITS: Los Angeles is home to many truly great artists. LAAFA offers our students the chance to meet and see how successful artists work on a daily basis. Not only do we visit successful gallery painters, but we also visit animation houses and design studios in an attempt to show our students the practical day to day activities of professional artists as well as what to expect when they themselves become working professionals.
• STUDIO SPACE: Studio space is specifically designated for our 3rd year students to work on continued projects throughout each term.
• COMPLEMENTARY EXTENSION COURSES/WORKSHOPS: Unlimited enrollment in LAAFA approved Online and Extension classes as well as instructed workshops are included. In addition, students are granted access to uninstructed workshops at no additional charge. Enrollment is based on availability.
• SHOWCASING: LAAFA holds an annual Student Gallery Show that includes invited guests of today’s prominent artists, gallery owners, and art organizations. Students may also participate in School Art Shows throughout the year and have their artwork highlighted in our Online Student Gallery.
• PORTFOLIO QUARTER: Post-graduation, graduates can take one quarter of non-credit extension classes to continue to hone their professional portfolio.
