Student Services

Student Services serves as a valuable resource to support the student body in a variety of ways.  Our Student Services is available to provide general counseling, guidance, support, consultation, and referral for outside providers and services.  Freshmen in particular are encouraged to use Student Services to assist in guiding them through their first year.  The list of student services offered at LAAFA is highlighted under the various tabs in this section.

International Student Enrollment & Veteran’s Training

LAAFA is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students and is approved for the training of veterans and eligible persons under Title 38, U.S. Code.

Work Exchange Program

Students may apply for LAAFA’s Work Exchange Program each quarter.  The availability of jobs varies from quarter to quarter.

Peer Mentorship

As a leadership opportunity and as a way for our first year students to gain an upperclassman advisor, all students are encouraged to sign up to be mentors for incoming freshmen.  Potential mentors need to add their names to the list in the Administration Office.  Any student who would like a mentor should see the Administration Office to be paired up.

Teacher Training Program

We strive to prepare our students for careers in teaching by offering opportunities for those interested in teaching at LAAFA.  This opportunity is offered to 3rd year students. Students would assist instructors during class.  Responsibilities may include helping with lesson plans, giving critiques and other duties.  This program would allow the students who have a desire to teach an opportunity to gain insight and knowledge of the teaching process as well as obtain valuable teaching experience.

If you are interested in student teaching internships, please visit the administration office at least two months prior to the start of each quarter.

Student Activities

Each quarter, LAAFA sponsors a different activity for our BFA & Atelier students.  These activities can include bowling, movies, attending exhibitions, visiting museums and more.
